Just got a flyer today stating 'take an extra 25 to 30% off already reduced items, which means you'll save as much as 60% off original prices."

I'm taking it that this is NOT Last Call, but perhaps the step before LC. Regardless, a lot of the good stuff will go in this sale, so heads up.

Last Call sale is in mid-January and is traditionally 40% off the first markdown.

I'm planning a day trip to Chicago around the 15th-20th. Any idea if the Last Call markdowns will be taking place then?

Also, will Saks, Barneys, and Marshall Fields (state st. location) also have some decent sales?

I'm not too concerned about selection, as I'm not shopping for anything I really need, I'm more hoping to score some deals on things that I'd like to have.

Lance, is the discount just in NYC or country-wide?

The Saks in DC yesterday (Mazza Gallerie) had lots of really great stuff on sale. Really cool Dunhill slacks w/Loro Piana cloth in various beautiful designs. Also lots of Borrelli shirts marked down to $215 from @$350. This is definitely not the final markdown though - - last January I bought a perfect Borrelli shirt from Saks for something like $125. The risk in holding out, of course, is that the best stuff gets snapped up (which seems to be the case over in NM's, where I didn't see any T&A or Borrelli or Kiton left).

I'm going to hit Mazza/Tyson's when the NM LC sale starts, and have my fingers crossed that Saks will still have a good sale going then as well.

I can almost guarantee you that Saks Mazza Gallerie, being so close in proximity to Neiman's Mazza Gallerie, will have a sale going on the same time as Last Call. Â Whether they will have anything left in your size I cannot predict. I actually prefer the selection at Saks to Neiman's. Â Saks's buyers appear to be much more adventurous.

So did anyone figure out if there will be a Saks sale in the DC area tomorrow?

I hit Saks and Neimans in Chicago on the 21st. At Neimans I reserved a cashmere herringbone sportcoat by Isaia for the markdowns that begin tomorrow (Dec 27th). The salespeople couldn't say whether the 27th's markdown would be an additional 25% or 30% off the 20% discount already taken. I think in the end I will save between $850-1000.

By the way, at Saks, the suit offering (what will be on sale) was completely depressing. The topcoat selection, however, was tremendous, as was the selection at Neimans.
