Deciding shirt for windowpane navy suit

I have an event (student formal for University program) this Friday and haven't really been too concerned with my sense of fashion until recently, so thought it would be good to start here.

I have a windowpane navy suit and am trying to decide between a white shirt or this shirt I bought a couple months ago: http://www.express.com/clothing/fitted+printed+dress+shirt/pro/6039165/cat1007

I feel as if a tie is optional so I am planning to go without one. Wearing dark brown shoes as well.
