For most people a decent point-and-shoot would actually be better than a DSLR. It's harder to take bad pictures with auto-everything. Obviously, if you know what you're doing, you can get much better results with a DSLR.

I really don't understand why some of the pics in WAYWN are so bad. It's not hard to take a decent picture.

What's funny is that there are a couple people who, very consistently, produce extremely low quality images.
