There are quite a few Sartorialist/facehunter-style blogs popping up, and DC has a couple local ones. Gothamist branch DCist (consistently amateur, but often good) has enlisted the writer of Project Beltway to do a weekly feature with pics and blurbs. Thought this was funny. No offense to the writer; this is clearly not in her wheelhouse--but this sounds like it was written by my mom.

For DCers, pandahead is another one, more hipster focused where PB tends to be dressier/preppier.

I would like to defend Commonwealth and say that they do not carry A Bathing Ape as far as I know. They are one of the best "streetwear" shops in the peninsula and deserve some credit. They do, however, carry the abomination that is BBC/Ice Cream; again in their defense this is because Pharrell is a local hero of sorts and friends with the owners of Commonwealth.

I have no problems at all with Commonwealth--I may actually check out their DC store tomorrow. I just think the writer is taking mediocre pics of pretty standard looks and selling them as special. And she's trying way too hard. Some of her blog's OK, so I dunno what's up.

For example:

This guy looks... fine.

They seem to be better dressed, consistently, than the white guys.

Granted, there are only 3 in the entire club.. but whatever.

then again, sauce could wear basically the same thing and he'd absolutely slaughter. It's all in how you wear it, as they say.

I live in D.C. and I can tell you that the street style here is not that great at all. I have not been to Common Wealth. There are hardly any stores around here to buy decent clothing except Denim Bar for jeans. Relish had some nice stuff except now they dont do mens which sucks. Circle Boutique carries some brands I like but there selection is kind of small. Well anyways, Ive been living in NW for about years and I dont really think any one dresses that well around here. The girls in DC cant dress worht crap either. You can go out on a given night and most o f the college chicks are wearing seven jeans with a black tank top. Its always blue denim with black tops and it just looks bad. I hate it.
