Coming up for a late concert in a few weeks, looking for a great hotel to stay at that is either walking distance to the theatre or a very short cab ride.

This is going to be part of my wife's XMas present, so I'm definitely looking for a nice place. Thanks in advance...

Sofitel Lafeyette Square and Ritz Carlton Georgetown both sound like what I'm looking for, only both look like a decent drive from the theatre

The Lincoln Theatre is located in a residential neighborhood (U Street) so there won't be any hotels within walking distance.

Hotel Helix is a relatively new, hip boutique hotel:

The Jefferson Hotel is a good choice if you're looking for luxe:

As you probably know, DC taxicabs use the zone, not meter, system. It looks like the Lincoln Theatre is right over the border of a zone. You can save a couple of bucks if you ask to get dropped off a block away.

Ok, no big deal to take a cab. I can have whichever hotel call us one to get there, but with the theatre being in that area I wonder if there will be a decent # going by after the show...

A lot of bars/clubs on U St., as well; don't think you'll have too much trouble flagging one down after the show.

As for hotels, there are plenty of nice ones--Kimpton, the boutique hotel chain which runs Helix, I think, also runs Hotel Monaco, which was one of my parents' favorite hotel experiences ever (they're not fogeys). Hit sF members up for restaurant recs if you need them, there's a lot of DCers on here who eat well.
