I'm willing to cede discount BG and Vacca to Washington as long as New York gets to keep Paul Stuart and Asprey sample sales. [IMG]

Plus Bergdorf's after-Christmas sale was pretty decent, 40-70% off.

Are the DV label suits made by Belvest?

I was wondering the same. I did go over the one I got pretty carefully looking for signs as to who made it. Belvest is a possibility. I don't think it's Saint Andrews based on the interior labels. I doubt it's Attolini based on the differences in interior labeling. The internal size/content labels are also different than those used by Isaia. A few things to note -- the buttonholes are all hand-stitched and have the same gorgeous loop-like appearance as the Attolini. Also, there is handstitching throughout - - inside and outside -- but it is not the in-your-face-visible pick-stitching as some suits have. The button stance and lapels are identical to the Attolini. Lots of nice details too, such as a button-fly and hand stitched attachment of the belt-loops.

By the way, of note re: the D-V label slacks and shorts -- they all used a serious, heavy-duty metal zipper-fly (something that is pretty rare these days except in bespoke or with Oxxford).

Sounds like quite the sale. Are there any D-V or Kiton shoes?

Duveen and I went to the Connecticut Avenue location last night. Nothing of note that we could find. It may have already been picked over by the time we got there. I think we need a SF signal like the Batman signal to alert other SF members of big sales.

I used to find a decent amount of BG at NMLC stores but no more. I wonder why BG sells its merchandize to outsiders but not to its corporate sibling?

Bergdorf Label clothes at Neiman Marcus stores?? Now that IS odd.

Nothing good left, huh? I was there at 3pm, so someone must have swooped in with $50,000 to spend in those few hours before you got there. Or are you not counting the Attolini suits, D-V slacks and Borrelli shirts.

Would anyone kindly take a digital camera by the store to snap photos of the suits (sizes)? It would be so greatly appreciated by various forum members, I'm sure!

I'd consider subtle forms of begging. Kabert? AC? Duveen?

The guy at the DV store in SoHo told me their suits are made by Attolini. I tried on one of their sports coats which I thought was really nice. I'd still prefer the fit of bespoke though.

It is in question currently who makes DV's suits, as Attolini no longers does. Belvest has been suggested several times over.

There were numerous threads about this before the crash ( %^@$&&@#%^ ) - sorry 'bout that - and the conclusion reached was essentially that DV's sales people are still trading on the Attolini name, so to speak, but no longer patronizing the Neapolitan firm whatsoever.

I'd be happy to help - unfortunately, I went by both Conn. Ave. and National Press last night and there was hardly anything left. The only Attolini suit I saw was a tan cotton suit in 38R. I'm guessing some douchebag probably realized that he could make $300-500 per suit by flipping them on eBay and bought the rest of them sometime after kabert's visit but before 6 PM last night. Otherwise, I can't imagine how Attolini suits could sell that fast in DC, even at $999 a pop. I didn't see any DV blazers either, although there were plenty of DV pants and shorts at the Conn. Ave. store.

There also wasn't much left at either store from the BG shipment - a few Borrelli shirts at each store, one or two Charvets at each store. I only saw one Kiton at Conn. Ave. - a blue check in size 17. The National Press store had a few more Kitons, but they were mostly linen sport shirts.

I went by at six last night and it definitely wasn't as good as kabert said it was at 3. I think by then people had picked over the suits quite a bit. I was very close to buying the tan cotton Attolini suit in 38, but I think I needed a 39 due to me gaining a few pounds in the middle. IMMSMC, it ws $1000. They also had an item that I don't quite understand, a 100% linen black notched-lapel tuxedo. When would somebody wear such a thing? They still had some RJ shirts when I was there, but the shirts were too disorganized to quickly sift through.

I think we DC SF'ers should start bribing a FB employee to give us a head's up when a shipment is coming. Maybe we could start tipping for purchases, and let them know the tip would be bigger if we got advance warning. If kabert is right that the shipment came in Tuesday, we could have had our pick that night.
