I'm short with a thin frame (5''6', 125lbs), and I know most people out there would say double breast suits are not for shorter man, so want to know if anyone shorter than 5''8 had good outcome with DB suits.

A double breasted suit can look good on a portly man, a slender man, a tall man, a short man, a young man, an old man, etc.

It depends on the suit. How it's cut. How it fits. And on one's personal taste.

You're right to be cautious as it could look very silly indeed. If you can afford to go to a high end bespoke tailor (not MTM) with a good cutter he should be able to create something sympathetic, but, if it is to RTW then err on the side of caution and don't try it.
