When wearing a double breasted suit can you wear a db vest with it, or only single?

When I ordered my first, the salesman strongly recommended the simplest, cleanest waistcoat for the task. SB, no lapels.

I've seen that combo, but I don't think I'd recommend it for most people. You, in particular, could have troubles with it because your trim frame would be cluttered with so much going on on the chest. Single (with no lapels) would do the trick just fine.

I would suggest that you wear no more than one db piece in a suit. db vest, sb jacket, or vice versa. a 3 piece db suit is not easy to carry off, but, frankly, this is something that your physique will help you with. it may look a little theatrical, but it is a look that works well on thin men.
