DB navy blazer, 6x2 vs. 4x2

So for a DB blazer with the full works, (i.e. metal buttons) should it be 6x2 or 4x2? Supposedly 4x2 is the classic blazer, but I am wondering if 6x2 is more slimming in effect.

Also for the sleeves would you use 2 buttons (which is supposed to be correct) or 4 buttons?

Do you guys think that collegiate metal buttons are too trad or too tacky?

Thanks.

I'm 6'3" and rather thin, so my choice would be 6x2, to have a short lapel line. If you want to look taller (and slimmer?), 6x1 is best. To look thinnest, avoid DB, since the extra wrap adds pounds.

Again, I'd use 4 buttons to make my already long arms appear shorter. I think a 2B jacket is OK, but more fashion-forward than 4.

I was considering the 2B jacket sleeve and 4x2 because of Manton's book which says that the 4x2 + 2B jacket sleeve is the traditional style. Now I am trying to decide how closely to follow the prescribed advice. I am leaning towards a 6x2 with 4 sleeve buttons, but I wanted to poll people's preferences.

Could you tell me which page of his book says that a DB jacket should have 2B sleeves, please? I tried to figure out that one for the 4B DB blazer, but failed to find any mention of the number of buttons for the sleeve in The Suit. So I ended up commissioning a navy blazer with 3 brass buttons on each sleeve.

Talking about his book, I still wonder when the Chinese version of The Suit will be out in Shanghai. Last month, I visited the largest book store in Shanghai hoping to purchase 3 copies of the Chinese version, but unfortunately it wasn't out yet.

Went down again this weekend to the largest bookstore in Shanghai. The Chinese edition of The Suit is still unavailable.

I really look forward to the Chinese edition. It'll be interesting to know the exact Chinese terminology for sartorial words, such as Midnight Blue, Navy Blue, Charcoal Grey, Flannel, Serge, etc.

Collegiate buttons are a must!

I vote for 6 x 2. Side vents, also.

As you can probably infer from my post, a lot of it comes down to personal preference and how you're built.
