DB Blazer with Patch Pockets?

Thinking of ordering a DB navy blazer with patch pockets and dark brown horn buttons. 6 x 2 configuration (don't like 4 x 1).

I already have a bespoke SB navy blazer, hence the thought of getting something a bit more dandyish. Cloth will be a 12 oz. navy worsted from Dugdales.

What do people think?

Do it. I don't know why you need our opinions for something so basic. I guess SF serves the need for validation.

A DB odd jacket w. patch pockets is hardly basic where I am.

I think patch would be better with a flannel woolen than a worsted.

I recently took delivery of exactly what you've described (from napolisumisura), and I've been very pleased with the outcome. It's only been out in the wild twice, but I get serious compliments on it.

Half of the folks will say no. Half will say go for it. If you like it, you should do it. Patch pockets on a DB odd coat is not that out of left field. You'll get 50-50 on fabric choice as well. You can't please both camps, so you might as well please yourself (not that way). Trini's point about a woolen rather than a worsted makes sense to me, and something I'd personally opt for if I were having the jacket made.

A navy DB with patch seems like it would best with linen to me. Also if you go 6x2 you might want to skip the breast patch and do a welt pocket like medtech.

Do it - but would go for a brighter blue rather than navy, jetted breast pocket and I agree that a nice heavy 14oz Irish linen or a flannel is the way forward.

Whatever you choose it'll look great.

I thought of getting one with matching pants. Ordered a navy H&S Crispaire cloth for it and then wasnt able to make up my mind. Then finally after a month of the cloth's arrival chucked the idea.

That said, I am getting a DB with patch pockets khaki cotton suit made and it should be ready in a week.

The best example of a DB with patch pockets I have seen on SF is whnay's which was the DTO style inspiration for mine as well. Medtech's SC looks nice though I feel that the peaks are too high.

Agreed all around. Although I might just go with 4x2 and forgo the two top buttons.
