Caustic, I believe there is a picture out there of a styleforum guy doing a stroller from a few years ago that looked cool. Don't remember the handle. From Lexington KY, thrifter, had a blog (the thrifty gent maybe)...

There have actually been several strollers featured on SF over the years. Some have been my favorite examples ever. I think Butler did one, though I'm not sure I am remembering that correctly.

How unusual or how terrible of an idea is it to put the ensemble together with more common pieces of everyday wear?
How different is the stroller coat from the standard suit. Looking around seems to suggest:
Peak lapels, easy enough for a suit
No vent or two vents, two vents is easy enough, no vent should not be too unusual either
Anywhere from 1 to 3 buttons, 2 and 3 are easy enough, 1 might be a tad too much
Besom pocket, definitely seen in a suit as well, tucking the flaps in might also work in a pinch?
90% black or oxford grey for a suit is still fine right?

How unique are the grey trousers? Is it of a color and pattern that could be seen in a standard suit?
Should the waistcoat match the trousers or the coat or be different?

Essentially is it possible to get 3 looks together using two fairly standard suits.

Thanks, Marco. It's good to have someone who really knows what he's talking about in these matters. Are you sure it's a body coat, though? I don't see any waist seam. I think it's rather a lounge coat cut to look like a d'Orsay/short Newmarket coat.

I'm sure the cutaway lounge/mezzo tight below won't really pass muster with you, but perhaps the more fashion-forward here might approve, the necessary adjustments for bad fit being made:

The d'orsay have a plain front (usually not Seams) and a back waist seam with a short skirt built like regular tails.

The true paletot overcoat has a similar approach (plain front), albeit the back is built fully as a body coat (princess seam, waist and tails). Anyway, let's keep on track. I think, aside of the colour, a coat cut like this (extreme cutaway front like a d'orsay) becomes of a one off use, whilst a properly built "mezzo tight" can be used again. Mine can be worn as an Oxford grey three or two pieces suits, or a stroller with matching jacket/waistcoat or odd waistcoat for weddings.

Thanks - just a note on the waistcoat worn with strollers - always same as coat, which means black including at weddings. If you wear odd waistcoats, you are not only incorrect, but will be taken for a high class hotel employee!

Not true in all parts of the world, certainly not in Italy where again the "mezzo tight" is still worn at weddings and judging for the following example, even in USA not too long ago (wedding of president Harry Truman's daughter):

Well, the Italian Mezzo tight is not a stroller so different rules apply I guess - anyhow in the rest of the world, if you want to use a odd waistcoat for a wedding, wear it with a morning suit - also there are no substitutes for the black tie and the cashmere (striped) trousers to be worn with a Stroller ( or Black jacket ( hence no grays either) as it is known i the UK)

However, as has been previously noted - almost nobody will know, and consequently care!

As for the Truman wedding, I'm afraid our american cousins as it were, are perhaps not the most likely source in these matters

As true as that is, the grey waistcoat seems to have started in 1925 with the German Foreign Minister Stresemann. Since then it's been the go to semi formal attire for men in the DACH countries as well as America for a time, if not in England.

I do not know where you get this "truths". The word for stroller/stressman is mezzo tight (or tait) in Italian. You may be referring to a quick google search that bring back RTW ceremony options, mostly showing "d'orsay" type coats. Better examples (first from a sartoria=bespoke):

Also Oxford grey is an accepted colour for morning coat and stroller in most countries
