My girlfriend and I will be spending Sunday Dec 6th and 1/2 Monday in DC the first week of Dec as part of a longer trip to visit family in PA. We've both visited briefly before and have visited the White House, been to the top of the Washington Monument, walked the Mall and visited a smattering of shops and restaurants in the Georgetown and Mall area. We love walking around and, being up from Florida, thoroughly enjoy the cold weather (crazy, I know...)
We plan on doing this every year going forward for the foreseeable future - taking a day+night out of the trip to ourselves before the big family visit has turned out to be a real treat, especially in DC since we both like history, art, politics, architecture, etc.
Some things that we've got on our long list to do over the next few years:
I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions on what else we can/should do this time. ps - happy to hear non-stratospherically priced restaurant recommendations as well!
