Why does anyone think he's funny?

A buddy I really respect made me watch Cook's tv special and I literally didn't laugh once.

Has he ever said anything funny? Am I just too dimwitted to 'get' it? I'm not edgy enough?

Nope, you do get it. He's about as funny as having forks plunged into your eyes and only slightly less painful. The absolute worst.

I really liked him before he got to this level of overexposure. He's had me in tears of laughter many times.

Different strokes for different folks.

I was gonna say... Dane Cook is neither entertaining, nor does he count as "culture". Isn't this in the wrong forum?

I never liked his humor either.

My GF and her friends loved it though. Gender thing?

I actually wrestled with that very issue before I posted...

I don't think Dane Cook is trying to cater to the SF-type of audience at all. It's like Larry The Cable Guy. He's either funny to you or just some dumb annoying hick.

Coked-out Robin Williams was hilarious.

I also second VMan's Mitch Hedberg.

Which I guess means I think addicts are hilarious.

I think Dane Cook is hillarious. I also like Gary Gulman, Mitch Hedberg, George Carlin, ********, etc.

I think Dane Cook is about the funniest young comedian out there. Not to mention, he's probably the best physical comedian since John Ritter. I don't think he caters to the middle-aged crowd

so maybe that's why some of you guys don't get it. His joke about having the atheist turn into a tree, chopped down and having the bible printed on him is probably one of the funniest jokes I've ever heard. I guess if you've never done/experienced the stuff that he talks then you wouldn't get it and it might not be funny, but to me, his stuff is friggin hilarious.

Btw, I don't find Robin Williams' stand-up to be funny at all.

Also, Mitch Hedberg died, in case you didn't know.
