I don't know if this has been posted before but I just read it and can't help but wonder about Chensvold's (dandyism's webmaster) motives for portraying the different fora (SF, AAAC, LL...) and its members in a pretty negative light.

Best quote however (or perhaps second to JLib's wife's, but you'll have to read that one yourself) is from LA Guy: “I’m sure there are a remarkable number of billable hours that are actually on Style Forum

I thought that article was pretty good, and didn't really get the sense that it portrayed all fora members in a negative light. Really, just one person in the article comes off strangely because of his perhaps excessive and extravagant tendencies.....

Well-written but strangely catty toward forum members. I don't know much about this guy's site, but the article strikes me as sort of a pot v. kettle situation.

Did seem a bit catty- to Marc this is more justified than to the forum as a whole. I don't particularly give a **** though.

Judging from the blog (apparently you have to register to view the forum,) the site seems rather tiresome and far too concerned with some vague aesthetic philosophy to be engaging or enjoyable.

I'm not sure we have to take any grief from a website about dandys.

true what it said about these fora enabling the clothes-addiction

scary how easy it is to forget that the people that post on these boards are NOT the norm

Sorry I didn't mention this to you guys. I talked to him a long time ago and thought the article was going to appear in the LA Times, at which point I would have alerted you. Apparently the editor scrapped it at the last minute, so Christian published it here. I think most of the cattiness is an attempt to make the article interesting, really.
