These Dacks shoes were my father's. Do not know anything about them. He probably only wore them when dressing up - they are in perfect condition as they haven't been worn much at all. They have been in my closet the past 12 years and I have not ever worn them. I was wondering when they might have been made? What they might have retailed for when new? I am sure he probably bought them new. I surprised to see they were "CAMEL SKIN". Any information you can supply would be greatly appreciated. THANKS

Just found another pair of Dacks in my closet that were also my father's - probably older than the loafers pictured above - much more worn. Wouldn't mind some info on these - cannot see any indication inside the shoe as to what the leather might be.... could it be another exotic leather like the Camel in the loafers? Any idea when these might have been made? What the original price might have been? Again, Dad probably bought them new out of a shop somewhere. These shoes actually fit me better than the loafers, so I may have to clean them up and start wearing them.

Wouldn't mind knowing if either pair might be worth anything today too. THANKS

Here is a link that gives some history of the company.

When I was growing up in Toronto, Dack's was certainly "the" men's dress shoe store, and a Dack's shoe was always well received at shoe repair shops when it was time for a new sole.

I recall the main store (Yonge St. or Bay St.? I can't recall.) having an exotic materials section.

You can find online a member of the Dack family who shows some historical company logos. The one in your father's shoe was apparently used from 1984 to 1997.

And welcome! I see we're both new here.
