Well it's slightly complicated by the fact that AE has weird sizing. I'm a 9 in AE, but a 9.5 in Dacks - and I wear 9.5US or 10 (43 eu) in most other shoes, including runners.

Another question for the Colonel. This'll settle a lot of arguments: Did Church's ever make shoes for Dack's in their English factories and re-brand those shoes as Dack's for the Canadian market?

I have three pairs of Dack's "Bond Street" shoes with "Made in England" insoles. I've been told that some Bond Street shoes were made by Church's and others by Cheaney. I'm going to upload a shot of my split-toe derbies which look exactly like the Dorchester model now being manufactured by Cheaney for Matthew Dack. I assume that these were made by Cheaney--yet no one's ever fleshed out the history of the English production of Dack's shoes.

I don't believe Church's ever made shoes for Dack's.

Nice shoes you have, and they look to be almost new. Where and when did you buy them?

Several times in the past I have posted here about the correct way to interpret sizes and widths. Unfortunately , the fact that I spent nearly 40 years in the shoe business and the vast amount of that as a Dack Shoes manager, has been over-ridden by someone who purports to know men's fittings but hasn't got any real idea at all. Finally, isn't there anyone else out there, who has a substantial background in the business, who the guys might be willing to listen to ?? I found that pair in a thrift store about two weeks ago. I'm always looking for exotics and bespoke-models in my size, but I can't leave the good stuff behind. I'm a bit of a collector. Since old shoes tend to scare off anyone now living (and so lacking a knowledge of shoe polish and leather conditioner), Dack's and Hartt are not so uncommon in my part of Ontario.

I'm assuming the Hartt Made in England Gold Seal shoes are also done by Cheaney? I came across a pair not long ago, but they didn't look like the Dack's Cheaney's I've seen (stamped size/last info as opposed to written and what looked like a front/back width designation).

Hi all! I have a pair of Dack's, but that's all I know, Hana. I was hoping I could get some help from the fine people at StyleForum.

I hope this thread isn't dead.

I have a pair of exotic hide shoes that I suspect are Dack's. No impression or ink is left on the insole but the numbers on the side are clear.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

Thank you so much! BTW, my favourite pair of shoes is caramel coloured pair of camel skins from Dack's, posted earlier in the thread.

Hi Daxman. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Dacksguy -yes I stoled part of your Styleforum name. I have had several pairs of Dack's over the years and I signed up to agree with your sizing info. I also wear Dacks on a continual basis, have for years. I am a size 11F or G. I can make both work. I could probably wear an 11.5 D. Let me know the styles in the Dack's range you preferred back when the company was a going concern.

I've just recently come into a pair of vintage Dack's that look awesome! I was hoping someone could help me to decode the model numbers and date:

11 D 7846 11
4416 02 25

I am aware, of course, that they are size 11. They have the anniversary stamp in the insole, and seem to be made from either a pebble-grain or oxhide leather. The leather has some real character - scrapes, rubs etc. in it, but you can see that they are below the finish. I have no idea if the shoes came from the factory this way, or if they were rebuilt at some point.

Thanks in advance for any / all help.
