Thanks, always on the lookout for local makers!
I really can’t believe the value that Canada West puts into their shoes and boots, serious competition for the Wolverine and Red Wing crowd.

My favourite is Boulet.

Always I will check out HD Russell in Vancouver in September

My NOS 50's Hartts split-toe derbys arrived last week. After some digging around in the newspaper archives I found them advertized in 1953. As I suspected, the vendor had misread the sizing, and instead of being a 9, they are a 10E, which fits me!! I had a pair of 10M 1950's Hartt shoe trees on hand to complete the ensemble. Pretty pumped about this pair. NOS Canadian shoes from the 50's are soooo hard to find, and to find them in my size; priceless.

Oh I cant wear them. I would feel so bad after. They turn 70 next year. Perhaps I should stop burning the incense in front of them. :)

The feeling is mutual. I have four pre-60s pairs daring me to crease them.
Pre 60's NOS is so hard to find. I cant do it. I wore a new old stock 1930's pair of British shoes once. I felt bad for months. i still feel bad really.

Back to work Tuesday. These are Hartt PTBs in Prairie oxhide. A nice pair to give some diversity in my mostly LWB collection.

Taking a break before dinner and an evening of meetings. Resting at the local man made lake and then will watch a pick up b-ball game.

These are Florsheim by John McHale. Gary Coakley rebuilt with new welts, JR soles, toe taps, and cat paw heels. Just short the grommets for the K package.

Does anyone know what year this Mchale pair was made? it's for sale near me and it's my size, if it was made in the 40s - early 50s i would buy it

They are certainly post 1959. Likely from the 60's or early 70's. If I could see the sock-liner and a view of the shoes from the side I could tell you more.

They are a lovely pair. You should get them.

#shortwingthursday

John McHale short wing gunboats. I'm going to have a cobbler install toe taps, sole protectors, and cat paw heels to make them versatile. Maybe convert them into spectators?

There are 2 other shoe friends who will be in the area. So we can hit some thrift stores, grab a bite and drink... it will be epic.
