Here's some 60s or 70s "Bespoke Quality" Dack's Kangaroo loafers or slip ons I found at a thrift store awhile ago. I'm not sure if these are bit loafers since they have a leather strap with a metal detail rather than a full metal bit, yet they also don't resemble a penny loafer. With the plain toe design they might not even be loafers, just plain slip ons. I'm not sure.

Regardless here they are:

I believe they're an 8
i'll confirm when I get home
PM me if that size works for you so as to not let the discussion derail the thread
(if you don't PM i'll assume they don't work for you, which no biggie.)

Hey!

Definitely not a CM object, but I figure if a place on StyFo knows the answer to my question it's possibly here.

I thrifted cool boots yesterday. They look like RCAF drill boots, but most of those I've seen were unlined and on a thougher, veg tan leather. These are chrome tanned and lined.

GYW, biltrite sole. 7 eyelets. Calfskin upper.

I like them a lot!

I'm trying to figure out who made them, when, and for what purpose.

The stamp reads

7 80 2B02443
BNQ7511210X made in Canada
M (unsure about that last character)

Based on the "BNQ" number, I suspect they were made in Quebec.

Thanks for all help!

HH Brown. Their factory was in Sherbrooke. A full lining would be unusual but they made any different versions. They certainly had a lot of military and police contracts.

Camel? They have the anniversary sock liner with no mention of the skin. They're a 12D and available.

Is the '78**' immediately after the size code a camel designation? I've two pair of brown camel shoes that also start with that code while none of my non-camel dacks have it. A third pair of black camel's was labelled '58**' so maybe the first digit is colour and second is leather type?

It does look like camel to my eye.

Can you post a real tight close up of the grain please. It is unusual for Dacks not to list their exotic leather on the shoe liner. Looks like camel. Very attractive pattern. Nice find. dacks did some really well done embossing too. But I think this is the genuine dromedary.
