The uppers look great and if they were my size and I was going to wear them then I would buy them for sure. However if they were for resale then I find it is a tough slog to sell a re-soled, re-heeled shoe. Not impossible though. For whatever reason apron-toes seem to be less desirable right now as well.

Just throwing some fuel into the fire. I yield to our two Canadian vintage shoe connoisseurs. They have right of refusal. If they pass, then yay me.

I currently have 15 NOS Florsheim that I still want to move some. Otherwise, I would be hitting up on their current offering in my size.

Who can source some Made in Canada leather boxing gloves? ??

Well, gents, they say that possession is 9/10s of the law. It is also well known that being the law is the other tenth! With the shoes now under my roof and being the only one to own to own an RCMP Musical Ride hat, well, I guess that implies they are mine, however there is a Rumpelstiltskin Corollory™ in effect in this case.

I must say, they are spectacular (and they are real)! They tip the scales at over 1450 grams for the pair, which is, you know, a lot, have the glove leather of the heel cup sewn as never-before-seen under the tongue, John McHale signature on the insole, proper soles and welt prominence, and are all around bad-ass. Turns out they are made for Owens Elmes of Toronto, as I speculated to @Jiqea. They have some miles on them, as evidenced by the suicide heels, but are in remarkably great shape with no major flaws, and have lots of life left in them, since JJ built things to last. With 70 years under the belt, what a Travel Log these must have. Without further ado, a few quick pre-cleanup pics...

I really like the lace-ups. Both @Jiqea and I have sold pairs in the past couple months, so they might not be as popular as, say, cap toes but they are saleable. If mine were D width, not E, I would have been keeping them, but fit is king.

8EE Eaton brown shortwings. I had not bought an Eaton shoe before. May not sell well, but I could not resist as it had interesting leather, double leather soles, look very well made, and nearly NOS. Must have been the same donor as the 8EE Florsheim, above.


10D "White Wedding" custom grade Hartts for days we are going casual.


9-9.5N HH Brown black derbies. Girls just want wanna have fun, just like us guys. This pair is from 1985, when Cyndi won the Best New Artist Grammy.

Shoes from with an Eaton's shoe liner can sometimes be of very high quality, as this ad from 1952 indicates. McHale and Eatons had teamed up to offer John McHale gunboats, some Eaton's branded and some branded John McHales. All great shoes.

Thrifted these a few days ago from a Value Village - Dack's 5856 in 11.5D. Great condition - would you say these are Camel? No marking as to the type of leather, but they seem more 'robust' than the Prairie Oxhide that I'm used to seeing.

Nice shoes. Looks like water bison on my phone. Nope. Zoomed. It does look like camel. I am surprised it does not say it inside. The code numbers are consistent with black camel

I had a nice pair of John McHales arrive today from France, where they were no doubt worn by an expatriate Canadian, shuffling along the streets of Paris, humming Les Feuilles Mortes and thinking of his lost summer love.

Like many of these shoes they had too much dark brown polish on them, so I removed that with Renomat, washed, moisterized and then gave them a light polish. They have the Custom Shoe sock-liner and likely date to the late 60's. A size 12D and heavy!!!!
