Here is today's Moose Jaw Hoard shoe, Scotch Grain Short-Wing oxfords by MacFarlane & LeFaivre from the mid-50's. The leather came from the famed Martins tannery in Scotland. These are really wonderful shoes. Some of the shoe had Craftsman labelled soles while others had "'Foot-Pal" soles. As well if you look closely some pairs have metal eye grommets while others do not.

In looking more closely at these shoes tonight I see that the pairs with no grommets have a different toe medallion and they are labelled as Macfarlane Lefaivre on the soles.

I justed picked up these nice Dacks Crocodile loafers. I'm guessing they were made in the 70's or 80's. Maybe the expects here could give me a better dating. Cheers

I almost bought those for resale. They are wonderful. Mid 1960's given the sock-liner and cool ankle tag. You got a great deal.

Here is today's offering from the Moose Jaw Hoard; MacFarlane and LeFaivre mid 1950's Moccasin-Toe Derbys with ultra cool black piping. Not to everyone's taste I know, but when you see these shoes actually on a foot you get it. They turn heads. Private label for Father & Sons shoe store in Moose Jaw. The lithogragh shows the factory in Montreal prior to MacFarlane joining with LeFaivre circa 1934.

A bonus shoe for today. Kangaroo Derbys by McFarlane and Lefaivre; late 1950's. Needless too say I jumped on these when I saw them. They must have shipped the raw kangaroo hides to the US for tanning; frozen I presume.

I love both of the shoes, the MacFarlane and Lefaivre moccasin toes and the black cap toe Kangaroo skin. I've always been curious about Kangaroo leather in general, and wanted to find a pair in my size. From pictures, it appears to be rather smooth, as in not much grain visible. I already have Dack's in Camel skin, Prairie Oxhide (which I assume is North American Bison), and Kudu leather, as well as "Imported Calf". I would love to get Dack's in Baffin/Fighting Seal, Kanagroo, and some of the other "exotic" leathers, although that brings up the issue of taking care of those exotic skins. A bridge to be crossed should I ever get any.

They were too pricey for me to buy but thought I’d still share for you guys to appreciate! View attachment 2291679 View attachment 2291681 View attachment 2291683 View attachment 2291685 View attachment 2291687
How much were they? I agree, those are great!

Unsure your age, @SecondHandStyle, but today is seniors day so it's 30% off. If that works for you
They had them listed at $207 before tax…

And I’m 25 so I’ve got a few decades yet before I get that discount lol

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
