Now this IS dedication. Driving 2+ hours to get a pair of shoes.

Fantastic pick up.

For reference, in my much younger days as a single young man, I found it to be a hassle to drive around 45 minutes for a date with a young woman. To no one's surprise, that relationship never took off.

On a similar note, I'm going to be in the greater Vancouver area September 12-23. Any interest for a local meet up there? Quick Cobbler would be happy to host a few people so that we can check out their operations. And then a bite to eat, drinks, and some thrifting?

I’m sadly stuck in the middle (with me) of the continent.

In for page 200:

These are interesting Dack's golf shoes that I am watching.

Kangaroo & calf uppers. The saddle is probably the kangaroo leather. If the saddle area was calf and main area was kangaroo, I would probably grab them.

@Jiqea , could you opine on date of manufacture and whether they are custom made/grade?

They are post 1987. Likely late 80's or early 90's. A very fine pair.

Spotted in the wild: a pair of gently used John McHale's (Size 11). Two sizes too big for this fella. If anyone else wants to pay for shipping let me know and I can circle back and rope them in.

I passed on those on Thursday. They are likely camel and part of the Caravan Collection. they are in great shape but I just don't much like the style. Likely 1980's. They will clean up nicely. post pictures after some Bicks and with some shoe trees please

I left them as well. Liked the look, but no room in my closet for shoes that I can't wear, lol. I was just offering to snag them for someone with a bigger foot,

I just picked up this pair of S.E. Dack alligator split-toe Norwegians. S.E. Dack's were made from circa 1952-1958 and were the top of the line. I have never even seen an advertisement for an alligator pair of S.E. Dack's in any style. They are a Size 8, but I don't know the width. They are on their way from France. An eBay find that slipped through without making it to the @davidVC list; likely as they were listed in French. Crazy rare shoes!

My roommate mentioned he was looking for a pair of brown dress shoes for work. I decided to force upon him the greatness of Dack’s. Swung by the thrift store and instantly spotted these kangaroo leather derby’s. Although the soles are barely worn the upper unfortunately got its fair share of scuffs and dings. Regardless, the shoe is beautiful and fits my roommate like a glove!

Great find. Those shoe trees are no later than 1949 and could be as early as the mid 30's. The shoes look great. You did well to jump on them.
