D Ring Belts: How To Fasten?

OK, obviously a newb green question. I just bought a D ring belt in 'washed' black. When I loop the belt from right to left in front in the usual manner, the belt doubles back and I'm cinching it from left to right when I close it.

Am I doing this right? Should I loop in the opposite direction first? Pic/s of the proper way to loop and cinch would be much appreciated.

PS: Also, the loose end of the belt hangs somewhat sloppily, dangling down instead of remaining in line like a leather belt. Is this how a fabric belt is supposed to fit?

Pull the other end through both D rings then pull it through the farther D ring.

Theshonen and Broady, Thanks!

More newbie questions, in case anyone else can chime in. I warn you, these are very basic questions:

1. does the end of the belt pull left or right, or does it not matter?

2. I'm planning on wearing the d ring belt with destroyed (not heavily, lightly) jeans, some chucks, a military jacket and t. I also plan on matching the shoes with the belt: black with black. Can I also match the belt color with the jacket color (olive)?

Don't match. Unless you're going for "dress streetwear" with dress shoes and nice jeans or something, it looks better if things don't coordinate too much.

And usually, the rings go on the left where a buckle would go, and the loose end doubles back to the right.

I actually think the belt could loop either way. Maybe depending on your dominant hand. Right for righties, left for lefties

You're fine. Just insert the belt starting in the same belt loop as you do any other belt. Neurotic overthinking is iGent.
