I think Chicago's is quite good. It was really the place for jazz in the '50s and '60s (though some will dispute this claim), so the heritage exists. As long as there are some good jazz clubs I'm happy.

Sure thing. I can't recommend any specific place at the moment, but I'll ask a jazz musician friend of mine which ones are worth going to.

Twins Jazz. We saw Felicia Carter, a phenom local, there in Feb.

Blues Alley gets some big names. Saw Stacey Kent there a couple years ago (and she's been back since).

Not sure about others. A friend recommends another place on 14th street, the name of which escapes me.

I suspect DC has a much richer jazz history than it has current jazz scene.

Our new quarter will have Duke Ellington on it even though he left here at a very early age and made his name in NYC. Of course, DC was still very segregated at the time.
