Slim, Cutler's inability to win has to be blamed on the Denver defense. When the Broncos gave up fewer than 21 points, Cutler was 13-1 as a starter. He wins when the team gives him a chance.

Great trade for the Bears. This kid's 25, he's got all the tools to be great, and the Bears traded peanuts for him.

I don't watch a ton of football but Cutler seems like a headcase. I can see this being a disaster or a spectacular move for the Bears and little in between. He's got talent but it seems like it takes more than talent to really become an elite QB in the NFL as Michael Vick proved.

Cutler will be fine in Chi-town. Lovie Smith will not put up with the prima donna ****, because he's had double digits winning seasons with Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman! What the **** can Cutler do to him? K-y-le-O-r-t-o-n-a-n-d-R-e-x-G-r-o-s-s-m-a-n; Lovie's damn near bullet-proof after that.

Denver's D and Shanahan's Living in the 90s way of coaching did them in more than Cutler. They' try to start Simms, who is a decent QB, efficient in the way the NE offense that Daniels will run calls for. They can use the picks on Defense (DB or D-line) and O-Line other than Clady, figure out which of the 7 (!) RBs will start and boot 4 of the rest, and draft another receiver late, in case Marshall winds up in jail.

Cutler might have the tools to be great, but he has come across as a big whiny pain ********** in this whole deal. Yes, there is a dearth of true talent at the QB position, but I don't know if I'd put up with his **** to get him on my team. It's like signing TO or dating a hot, bitchy chick. Not worth it.

That, and I don't think he can get Chicago to the promised land from his back while he's looking for the nobody that he'll be throwing to. You can say Denver screwed this one up, but I think Cutler screwed himself too. The proverbial cut off your nose to spite your face move. He would have done better had he gotten over his hissy fit and made up with McDaniel, who has proven that he knows how to develope a QB, and stayed with a much more talented offense in Denver. Also remember the giant hole that Tampa dug for themselves when they threw away all of those pics to get Gruden. The lack of top draft talent for a couple of years really hurt them.

And I still don't see this happening. I heard Schwartz talking the other day, and it seemed his message was that it was clear that taking a QB at #1 was just too risky. It's harder for the talking heads and the fans to ***** about how poorly a tackle is plaing than a QB. Time will tell, but I just can't see it. Then again, this is the Lions we're talking about.

I didn't mention this before, but you guys are right: Cutler has looked like a whiny ***** during this whole thing. Cutler got roasted during a team dinner for the whole ordeal, but there's truth in the fact that football is a business. Cutler got his panties in a bunch over a business deal, and that looks bad.

I still can't decide if Cutler is the second coming of Jeff George. Time will tell, I guess.

Sean Salisbury, perhaps?

Denver raped the Bears on this trade.

If the Bears were smart, they would have gone after Cassel at the beginning of free agency, and paid a lot less.

I have to admit I don't know much about Salisbury's career (other than that it sucked).

Kyle Orton has to love this trade.

He suddenly get to throw to Marshal and Royal, 2 of the best young WRs in football, and enjoys the support of a top 10, if not top 5, O-line and a dangerous running game. If he's able to hold on to the starting job, he'll be raking in a lot of doughs in a few years.

Plus, Denver's weather is a lot less miserable than Chicago's.
