Do you always declare everything at their full value? For me, the **** I buy is expensive enough as it is.

People are willing to vote, but I guess people are afraid to respond for fear a gooberment agency is watching.

I only buy within the European Union, most of the time in the UK or France.
So the question simply doesn't arise.

Has nothing to do with Schengen (which allows travel of persons) but with EC Directives on free movement of capital and goods -> one European market. But I agree within EU this is a significant cost saver. On the other hand, buying in the US with the weak $ is very interesting nowadays even considering the custom duty and shipping costs. What is find disturbing though are the so-called clearing in costs (fixed amount) which are often higher then the custom duty itself.

Well when you dont live in the Eu, you get VAT deducted

Then the rest is up to your own concience. But there are some tings that annoy me, for instance yoox ... have a 30% markup on goods, an then we get charged 25%VAT. So after i found that out i only order from them when im in the EU. Speed

I've found that US Customs officials at airports are so unused to honest passengers (or bespoke prices) that full disclosure usually results in something like a 3% duty.

I don't tell sellers what to put on their packages, and I try not to look most times. Frankly, if I wanted to pay more duty than is levied through their couriers, I wouldn't know where to send it.
