Another very strange and specific question for those that own MP and 55 lasted boots:

I have really thick big toes, like gigantic. On my MP's, even though the length is alright, they press down on the tops of my big toes because the last is so sleek. Do 55's have more vertical room in the toe box or should I be looking at the 4811?
You might consider the 5050 last on the MP. It does add some vertical volume over the standard Barrie last.

I thought the 5050 is basically MP (Barrie) at the front and 55 at the back, or is it fundamentally different to both?

These are photos of my SD's 55 last MP's Modified Barrie and BH 5050 last. All are 10B.
There is also a photo of the actual 5050 and 55 last that Kyle sent me before I ordered the BH 5050.

Do not tell my wife there are dirty cups in the sink! She is gone for a few days.

1. Lasts
2, Clockwise from left, BH 5050 British Tan new yesterday, SD 55 #8 Shell, 6 months, MP Barrie Brown Horse Hide 2 years.

3. 5050 vs MP
4. 5050 vs SD
5. Right shoe all three SD, MP, BH 5050
6. Toe shot

I think the 5050 toe is about the same ht as the MP. Note 5050 does not have a celastic insert and the MP does. To me, the 5050 last is longer than the MP Barrie and a little more narrow in the toe box. I have about 1/2 size space between my big toe and the end of the BH 5050 toe box, way more room than the MP and maybe just a tiny bit more snug.

I went for a 2-mile walk tonight. It will take quite a few more to soften up the leather and the arch support. I did not have any hot spots so I think the fit is spot on.

Kyle nailed this one. I am glad I went with the British Tan. It is a beautiful color in the sunlight.
I hope these photos help show the differences in the different builds/lasts.

Yes... the 55 last's toe shape is virtually the same as the MP from above (IMO) but it is slightly taller. Not Iron Ranger or Viberg 310 height, but definitely more vertical space than the MP. I think people consider the MP more svelte mainly because of that lower height rather than the actual shape. The 55 actually has a pretty sleek toe overall IMO.

I posted a comparison pic a few thousand (!) posts ago: https://www.styleforum.net/threads/custom-whites-boots-thoughts.219173/post-10630323

Edit: reposting the key image from that older post -- MP (celastic toe) size 10C on the left vs SD (celastic toe) size 10.5C on the right

No, single midsole/half commando sole on each of my boots pictured. You're probably seeing the additional slice of midsole that comes with the half-commando sole on the SD. Midsole seems thinner overall on the MP.

Literally just arrived,
MP's natural horsehide, F width
Couple QC issues but im in Australia so definitely keeping them.
They're super fleshy - hopefully won't take too long like nautral cxl to turn honey brown!
Respect Kyle's sizing advice people!

Bakers / Whites has natural hh? All the options I've ever seen was black, brown, color 8. I'm trying to avoid buying boots and just enjoy what I have now but I've wanted some natty hh's for a while.

I’m also curious about the natural horsehide. Was told by Kyle in december when I ordered that they had no idea when it would be back, and haven’t seen it on the drop-down since. When did you order?

That's what I thought too, MP toe box with 55 arch support?

You are both correct, however, the combination last ends up changing the profile. I believe the adding of the arch is what adds volume to to the forefoot. So @Percivilla since you're looking for a little more height in the toes I think it would be a solid option. You can see how much taller it ends up being in @Luscombe comparison photo above.
