Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

I measured the soles of both boots at the same place (used the medallion toe cap as a reference point) and the left boots is 1/16 of an inch narrower

Obviously having a measurable difference between the two boots isn't ideal, particularly if the one that measures narrower is pinching. 1/16" isn't massive though; as you can see from the info at the top of this Brannock Chart, ±3/16" is approximately equal to one width up or down. So your boot's variation of 1/16" is, in context, around a third of a Brannock widths difference. So basically...

That said, if the left boot is pinching, and the left boot is also measurably narrower, I'd say it's something worth looking into.

Ultimately, photos and measurements can only help so far with fit issues; it's really about how they feel on your feet. If the boots feel too small, they're too small, and if they feel too big, they're too big, etc. And it's really something the person wearing the boots is better placed to determine than anyone else.

I measured the soles and don't know a thing about boot making so not a reliable metric.
I will send these in as soon as my British tan arrives.....if only lol

size ordered: 8E ( this was an idiot move) with a celastic toe


after a couple weeks with a boot stretcher, my Bounty Hunters are only somewhat comfortable. The toe box squeeze is tight enough to keep me from wearing them. The leather is quite stiff so I'm really feeling that toe box squeeze.

Considering it's summer, do you guys suggest sending them in for a rebuild to 8EE with a soft toe for comfort?

The loss if I don't wear these at all is around $600. At this point I'd gladly send them back in for $250-300 for a wearable boot.

I have celastic toes and I think the comfort issues stem from the wrong size, not the celastic toes.
If you plan to get these in the correct size and you like the celastic toes' look (rather bulbous), I say go for it.

Yeah I should've trusted my gut and just gone with the size that Kyle recommended 8EE. I think that once the length was properly shorted up and snug I really didn't have any wiggle room at all to tighten the length. I suppose this is a better question for Kyle.

? actually still waiting on resolution on a few issues from the first pair of boots I bought...
I honestly had no idea what to expect from the leather. Looking back through my phone, I was wrong, that creasing and break happened when I was still trying them on.. you can still see the tags in some of the pictures ?. The leather itself was very dry out of the box-almost dusty, there was a blemish or two, but otherwise ok by my eye?? I’m not a horsehide specialist (@smartbrother , @PACostag ?). It looked strange to me, but I had read it creased differently than cowhide, I thought maybe that’s what it was?. I was just glad to have a pair of boots that fit and were sewn together in all the right places and maybe ignored the rest “This guy ordered a 38 swing last... he won’t care how they look, use that last piece of hide over there in the corner”

I'm a 9.5D brannock too and my 8EE bounty hunters were perfect in width. Any more narrow and the break in would be much more brutal, I could probably do 8.5E but I doubt it would be as nice a fit as 8EE for my foot.

Also, my HH takes a nice shine, again very different from CXL...

I have never seen White’s horsehide behave like that... almost a CXL type break. Olive waxed flesh. The lineman patch is doing its job of looking cool very well! Wore the boots again today and the arch is already starting to break in pretty well. More comfy with each wear.
