If I could source some Maryam or Shinki horsehide for not crazy money I probably will. Otherwise, Badalassi would be my next choice.
I just ordered some HB direct from Maryam. Was fairly easy to do. What's crazy money? 14 sq ft was about $200 plus shipping.

Ah really? I know for similar sq ft for badalassi it was like $200 as well. That seems like a fair price for that much horsehide. I honestly thought Maryam would be more.

@Legal Eagles At some point, wouldn't it be worth just sourcing the leather and having a build done? Obviously theres the added cost associated, but it might get you what you want. I've been contemplating doing that in the future at some point but for now I have my boot purchases planned out for the year already. Theres certain leathers I would think a pair of Whites would look great in, but the likelihood of them ever stocking outside their current catalog probably won't happen.
If I could find good whisky shell for a price that would not require me to mortgage my house... I might try it...

If I went with something less than Maryam or Shinki or some "off the shelf" whisky shell, I fear I run the risk of ending up with some $1,500.00 patchwork monstrosity like this...

Ordered (and am still waiting on) a pair of bounty hunters from Bakers with Maryam HH that Kyle said they happened to have, the up charge was $250

To quote Kyle: “a really pretty tan”, and then he goes and throws me this to fan the flames when I asked for a picture?

I am assuming the toscanello horse rump but he did not confirm

It’s great to have confirmation on the leather. Can I ask when you placed the order and what your quoted wait time is?

I made two new Kilties for the boots with out the crinkle cut bottoms.

I think that White's nailed it with this pair. I absolutely love them and the arches are nice and high (4818 last used not the 55). This is my first pair with the Vibram #700, and they are significantly heavier than the #269 sole on my SD's. These defiantly feel more rugged.

I'm happy with it all. The leather used, the stitching, the workmanship. Also, I don't know what leather they used in the tongue, but holy cow, that stuff is super thick and incredibly soft - love it.

Since it's often posted on here what blemishes there are in a build, I went looking for some. To be clear, I'd give these boots an A+, so please don't take this as a compliant. I'm thrilled with how these tuned out. But for those that want to see any possible flaws...

On the right boot, on the inside edge of the rolled top there are some scratches.
On the right boot, the sole edge near the toe was sanded a little closer to the stitches than on the left.
On the right boot, the heal stack has a slightly larger heel shelf than on the left boot. (You can see this in the pic looking down from above behind.)
On the left boot, the backstay/pull loop is not perfectly centered on the centerline.

That's it, and that's only with a supper picky eye. These are some tough boots, not some dandified fashion wear. I can't find anything on these boots that I would complain about. They came exactly as I ordered.

Thanks White's!

Beautiful boots. The first thing out of my mouth when I saw the pics was...that’s chocolate brown.
