Bump on this question. Anybody? They look comparable to SDs but cheaper.

I have not seen the traveller, but I have seen the Hathorn line. Whilst I`m sure its a fine boot, I would pay up for the extra $100 or so and get the full-blown Whites. The leather options and general standard is far far superior. The Hathorn is aimed at the factory made boots that other makers produce. The top of line Whites is a great deal compared to the second line. Just my opinion though...

Hi! Anyone with pics of Black Cherry Water Buffalo? I wonder how it ages. Also, it looks kind of thick, right?

Thanks Daizawaguy. I love the color, but it seems really thin indeed... Well well well, still wondering on the perfect configuration!

    Hi Folks,

I'm thinking about to order SD Brown Horse Hide but there are 2 following points that I'm still not sure about and need your help to give some advise on which one of these would be a better idea.

-Sole: 269 or 700? Or else?
-Last #38 Swing Last or standard? What's SD last?

    Thanks!

the 700 sole is more durable, the 269 is softer and has more grip. Swing last has a roomier toe box and turns up at the toe, standard last is the regular SD last.

agree. 269 [aka "western" sole] has lower profile & not much grip. ideal for urban use.

careful with sizing on the swing last. my experience is, you size down 1 on the width [ie, if you're normally 8.5E, need to go down to 8.5D].

Now the option has been narrowed down to:
    A) 269 sole, Standard last, Standard heel or
    B) 269 sole, Swing last, 1/4" Lowered block heel

Which one of these two that will be a nicer combination with SD HH? Much appreciate if anyone could show example photos of these similar combinations.

    Thanks in advance.

Option A by a country mile. IMHO Swing last are wide and look like clown shoes. I also dislike the block heel and lowered options.

Thanks Shivman for your valid comments and useful compared photos. Better to leave the Option B.

Some of people also recommend Commando Mini Lug Half sole over the 269, Any comment on this sole? I tried to google but they all with standard heel. If anyone can show me the Commando Mini Lug Half sole with block heel on Semi-dress to compare, that would be perfect.

    Cheers-

Here is one with the commando mini lug half and a block heel. This one has a 461 last.
