    Wow, those are beautiful.

This thread is only confirming that SDs will be my next pair of boots. I can barely tolerate the block heel on my Tricker's, so I'm looking forward to the classic White's heel.

i own both the tricker's stow and the white's semi dress. both amazing boots. stows are more striking and get more compliments than the whites, but the white's are more comfortable and i definitely prefer the classic heel. i will definitely buy another pair of whites before i buy another pair of trickers.

  2. Just got my custom White's semi-dress from UPS today. All I can say is... wow. The quality on these suckers is amazing. I was a little concerned that with the high price they wouldn't be worth it but after seeing them in person I can say they look like they're worth every penny. Build quality is really high. As for sizing, instead of the tracing I just went with the same size I wear in Red Wing, Wolverine, Chippewa, Alden, etc. The fit is spot on. Only complaint I have are the laces -- they seem a little flimsy (but that's an easy fix).

    Here's my custom config:

Retro Semi Dress Americana by White's Boots
Toe Cap Leather Color British Tan, Sole Vibram 269, Size - Length 11, Hardware Antique Eyes & Hooks, Edge Brown, Upper (Shaft) Leather British Tan, Midsole Single, Pull Loops No Thanks, Leather Liner Cream, Sole Trim Close Trim, Toe Vamp Leather British Tan, Size - Width D (medium), Toe Cap Leather Toe Cap (only available on plain toe style), Celastic Toe Box Single Celastic Toe, Heel Base 90 Degree Blocked off Heel (Traveler)

And the photos I just took:

Both of these recently posted pair look fantastic! Great selections all around. Those cap-toes are gorgeous and just happen to be my size...so if you end up deciding they don't fit for any reason you let me know [IMG] Just kidding, enjoy them!

just got my shipping notice from Baker Shoe so my boots will be here next week! I put together a much less dressy boot than most of what's been posted in here (went with classic cougar in red dog roughout with a vibram cristy sole), but will update with pics regardless.

I apologize for the poor quality of the pics. They were taken with my cell phone, which doesn't focus well while taking close up pics. I took some pics of them with a Canon Rebel XTI in 10 mp resolution, but the files were too large to attach, and I don't know how to reformat them. Anyhow, these were taken after a few days of wear and one application of sno-seal. The sno-seal did not seem to have any darkening effect on the leather, which seemed to be already saturated with some type of conditioner or treatment. This is my first pair of White's boots. I own a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers, several pairs of Chippewa's, Danner's, and Timberland's. My initial impression of them out of the box was that I was very impressed with the quality of the materials, craftsmanship, and how heavy they were. They are without a doubt the highest quality pair of boots that I have ever worn. The first day of wear, they felt bit stiff and heavy on my feet, which is to be expected. After a few days of wear, they feel very comfortable and sturdy. The arch support took some getting used to, but now I love it. My overall impression of these boots is that they will most definitely last a very long time, are very comfortable, and are worth what I paid for them. As you can see, the brown chrome excel looks slightly different in my pics as compared to the pics on Baker's website. Mine are a slightly darker and richer brown, with an amber or chestnut hue to them. I would not hesitate recommending White's boots, and will likely buy another pair or two at some point. As far as fit, I did the White's measurement thing, and they recommended that I wear a 10D, which is what I wear in every other boot that I own.

    great looking boots!

Would love to see the pics from your "real" camera- there is lots of free resizing software available thats quick and easy to use...!!??

How did you specify the top eyelet to be an eyelet and not a speed hook?

Any chance you could take a pic of the lining?

    thanks!

    Enjoy!

I was not able to specify the eyelet setup. That is just the way they came. I suppose if you wanted a different setup, White's would be willing to work with you.

    Thanks for the pic-

The reason I asked about the eyelet is because on the Baker website it shows hooks to the top...

Would love to see pics of them on your feet if you ever get the chance...

    thanks again-

I still have the urge to order some work oxfords from White's.

Has anyone tried them (or the Nepenthes make-up) on? Can anyone comment on the fit and/or quality?

so just got my White's from Baker. Holy crap these are sturdy boots. I also just picked up a pair of Vibergs from another user and they are very comparable in construction and heft. As has been previously mentioned, you really don't get the difference between these and Red Wings until you handle a pair. beautiful thick leather. I went with the rough out style because all of my other boots are either smooth leather or nubuck. Great advice from Kyle at Baker recommending I go with my RW GT size, they fit great with some thicker socks (cushioned athletic socks are perfect) I went with a plainer, more workboot type style but I'm super happy with these. What are you thinking about in terms of mantanance? A simple spray? Roughouts interesting but I don't think the normal snosel would be approprate.

Any idea how this type of leather wears?

    roughout looks great sno-sealed...

I've seen some pics of sno-sealed rough-outs, and it just turns them out to look smoother.

I'm planning on just spraying them with some kind of silicone based waterproofer, unless someone has recommendations they can share.
