single is fine if all you want is shape retention. if you are looking for any sort of protection from dropping shit on your feet, I would strongly recommend double. Im not familiar with the 9111, but I am familiar with the 3141 chukka, which is sort of similar. The celastic is about the same, but constructed much better on the Whites. I cant remember if the Red Wing uses a man made celastic material or not, but the Whites is leather I believe.

    Me?

I'm wavering between no-celasitc and single celastic. I just don't want to lose the toe structure. What do you mean by "less tiresome"?

    Cheers

get a single. It keeps the shape fine. I only mentioned double because you mentioned wanting some protection, but not a steel toe.

Are the non celastic toes as durable as single or double celastic toes?

well, the leather wont wear out any faster or break down any quicker. It just has a lower profile toe with less structure

My no celastic BH is doing just fine:

If you want a lower profile, just skip the celastic. It's not going to change anything other than appearance.
