Well, it's just a hunch, but it seems logical. I also have a pair of natty cxl plain toe Alden boots that I'm worried about stretching because the Trubalance last is already pretty voluminous for my feet!

Anyone out there with CXL White's want to relate their experience with stretching? And, on a side note, do the smoke jumpers etc. use a thicker piece of leather than the semi-dress?

I actually love how the boot feels with the heel 1/4 lower.

I have CXL Semi-Dress and black Farmer-Rancher. The leather on Farmer-Rancher is thicker and more rigid. Semi-Dress CXL is softer and more stretchy. Also the quality is higher. Less break-in time with Semi-Dress.

I am selling brown cxl Semi-Dress in 12.5EE just because its too roomy once I wore them a bit.

That triple sole is beefy - those look like some serious sh-t-kickers.

Anyone with single leather soles wear theirs in the winter or in the rain? I am thinking of having white`s add the half slip before winter so I don`t have to put it away. Would they have to alter the heel height as well? I mean is the heel height the same on the ones with just the single leather sole and the ones with the half sole on top of the single leather? It seems to me that the heel height is a little higher on the ones with the half soles.

Yes, you guess is right. They put another layer of leather in the heel to balance the boot, when using the composition half sole.
So, if you add a forefoot rubber layer yourself, with no change to the heel, you will have a lowered by 1/4 inch heel boot.
I suggest you do nothing to the heel, just let it be lowered.

With White's you must pay a deposit since they are custom orders, I think it might be $100 or around there. Once the boots are complete I think they'll then charge you the balance and send the boots out. I've never bothered with that and just payed in full when I ordered them.

If ordering through Bakers, the answer is yes.

Anyone here with a single leather sole put a much thinner vibram half sole similar to a topy than what is offered? I have taps on my pair now but I want to wear them throughout winter as well. I was originally thinking of sending it back to Baker`s before then to have the thick composition half sole that white`s do but I want a much lower profile than that without having to alter the heel height since the standard heel height is high as is.
