Haven't ordered from them before but I'm sure if it's custom, then they will tailor them to your specs precisely.

    Exactly.
I have bullhide shafts on my BHs. Bullhide is one of the leathers that requires a lining because it is very flexible (which could also be described as "soft"). I certainly would not describe it as weak or less durable.

Gosh, I thought that is why Whites' attempts to require you to send in measurements, so "the guy on the internet telling me size" is NOT ordered and IS the cause for the boots not fitting.......Yea they answer the telephone and mail instructions on how to do it.

This the perfect example of internet blather.

This posters statement is 100% incorrect. Whites makes boots to industry standards or the sizing measurements you supply ONLY, no deviation or customization from their lasts.

Try Russel Moccasin if that is what you want (and will pay for it). J Lobb also does it....if you want a nice pair.......hardy har har

Would it be advisable to get the boot lined if I want to go with the Chromexcel leather? I have some loafers in that leather that is unlined- but was wondering if a liner might help the boot from stretching too much.

    I would advise it.

We should all probably ignore you, Louie, but the next time I want to read a non-informative, "I'm the smartest guy in the room" post, I'll go back and find your earlier input. Go away or have something positive to say.

Just got these CWB's and i'm in love. I'm not new to White's as I have a pair of Brown CXL Classic Work Boots but after a few hours of wear, there is some serious bite from the tongue on the right boot. Like a hot spot digging into my ankle bone where the crease in the tongue is. Tied them a hole bunch of ways with not much change. I know Whites website has a way of sort of folding the tongue towards one side, but I think it looks kind of goofy and I didn't have to do that on my old ones. Didn't seem to have this bite on my old boots or I don't remember well enough lol. The right one seems fine. If I remember correctly, these should alleviate as the tongue and leather soften and flatten out, but i'm just being neurotic I think. I've only worn them 2 hours yesterday and three hours today. I'm resistant to hitting them with Obenaufs LP right away as I want them to patina naturally. I will do it eventually, but wanted to wait till winter.

Should I worry, or just deal with it until it breaks in? :)

BTW: the fit otherwise is PERFECT. Like walking on little foot clouds :)

    Hi,

Looking for some input regarding black Semi-dress boots. I have a pair in brown dress (standard?) leather and really lilke them. Would like a black pair of boots but am unsure about the leather to choose. The boots would be worn at work, primarily with jeans, and it is a pretty relaxed atmosphere. I would like a leather that could be polished/cleaned up readily as compared to something that would develop or show wear quickly.

It looks like the choices are black dress, water buffalo, chromexcel, and black horsehide...

    Thanks for your help.

    Chuck

Pretty sure I had the same thing you are describing, on the inside ankle of both boots with my new SJs-- right where the bellows tongue folds back? Had it for about three days but now it seems to have broken in and is almost not noticeable, FWIW.

I had a problem with my last set of Whites boots too. I would place my right boot in my lap and go driving around. It seemed to hurt my groin so I called Whites and they told me to put it on the foot and it would eliminate the problem. I tried that and it cured the problem.

They also told me to PULL THE TONGUE UP AND PUSH ON BOTH SIDES, WHEN TIGHTENING THE LACES, and they would not pinch my wittle ankles. THIS CAUSES THE TONGUE TO FOLD EQUALLY ON BOTH SIDES.
