Hmm… I don’t understand why. I’d ask wouldn’t you want active nicks workers on social media when things go south? In other words you know nothings perfect. Sometimes these boots will come with defects or wrong specs. In that case I’d rather have people actively on SF or other social medias so I could bring that information too them. Instead of the generic email you’d send to whites and then god knows what they would say back and how long it would take to get your issue resolved.
If Nick's employee would come on a social media platform and introduce himself/herself and clearly state that business is bad for Nick's and he/she is here to beg for business then I will be 100% fine with that.

I don’t understand this … I’ve never seen them begging for business. I’m starting to get the vibe not everybody hangs in all the brands separate threads on here tho. Even if you wear all their boots. Like I’ve never really seen a viberg owner in the nicks/whites/grant stone thread… but I’m sure they wear them.

I hate Nick's and Nick's employees!
You hate the employees?!

Hasn't it gone way too far when you hate people who (checks notes) make boots for a living?

Your experience of Nick's seems so far outside the norm; they've always struck me as being very constructive and gracious about their competitors. But even so, hate?

Come on now; once words like 'hate' start being levied towards employees of competing companies, we're well down the road of toxic fandom.

I waited since November for Maryam horse boots they came with 3 wrong specs. Asked them if they could make my next purchase that was pending faster and they agreed. I think part of them wanting to agree was because the boots also didn’t fit me either (totally my fault) That order was going to have the same lead time as the horse boots (prob 20weeks). I got a email the following day saying the order had been started so they probably had a hide for me! The wrong specs on the 1st order could have been my fault. I emailed them a lot asking to change things but in my defense I couldn’t see my order cause I forgot to log into my account when I checked out. So having them around was a benefit for me. I don’t know what I’m going to do with the pair that didn’t fit me yet but at least I have a pair that will fit me on the way. They did offer a return label. I need to find it. This example just makes a customer you know more willing to buy something in the future. I don’t think it would have worked out that way if they weren’t so readily available on social media

please circle on the boot where Nick hurt you? This is a safe space.

Unless you work for Nick’s I guess?

I think you will find the strongest criticism of White’s, on this very page, by whites owners, Including myself (for the record I am not an employee of nicks or own his boots- though I do have a pair of Viberg 310 @brandonboot full disclosure)

I feel like you’re swinging a big hard at this one.

I thought it was obvious what I was referring to, I don’t know Nick’s employees personally.
My “hate” is towards Nick’s employees’sales and marketing tactics…..

It’s obvious you don’t care for nicks that’s for sure. The reasoning tho you haven’t made it clear to me at least why that’s the case. Sales and marketing tactics. What does that mean? You think they are on social media just for sales?

Ask this question from Nick’s employees.
I didn’t go on their forums badmouthing their products, I certainly didn’t post fake reviews on Reddit and I didn’t collaborate with Social media stars to make my competitors appear look bad.
I am not a White’s employee, I am a big fan of Baker’s/White’s.

from Whites or Nicks? have you posted any pics?
Nicks. yea the ones in the thread pictures. It’s still fairly recent I think. It’s title is “this is surely going to be a lot of leather to break in” Shuyler sent me a return label I just don’t know where it was sent too but I asked him

I would bet any amount of money if rose anvil or Carl M … exc was offered too do a colab with whites they would accept in a heartbeat. Whites did one with stitchdown recently. Those boots were sweeeet

I don’t know why I would care if the inner stitching on my boot was done by hand or not… Good old google coming to the rescue.

For example, a boot being hand sewn welted only means that the inner stitching is done by hand.

I do believe on the other hand that I’d prefer the leather in nicks arch support over the chrome tanned leather whites uses if we are splitting hairs here.

Well, things aren't exactly that simple. I think the rolled welt construction White's uses is certainly more robust than simple stitchdown. Importantly, that rolled welt protects where the stitching goes through the upper leather. With stitchdown, your upper basically *is* the "welt," so if you kick a lot of rocks or shovels or whatever and ding up that stitching area, you're gonna start reducing the viability of a resole by damaging the upper leather.

To be honest, I kind of don't understand where this cult of "stitchdown" came from in the first place, other than maybe Viberg fanboys? It's a super simple construction method compared to a welted shoe. It's not terrible or anything, but championing the construction method used by the likes of Clarks Desert Boots instead of something far more robust and labour-intensive seems misguided to me. Maybe the word just sounds cool?

What is the benefit of a double mid sole? Honestly I don’t even know what it is. But I’ve seen pictures and it almost looks impossible to break in
It does offer more support, depending on where you wear them. I have three pairs with double midsoles. Two I wear for work, and walking on gravel and large stone, the double midsole offers an extra layer of support. The third pair is a pair of Whites Oxfords, and they have a double midsole because it looks cool.
Or like 70s disco.
I'm not quite sure.
LOL

I am probably one of those people that would prefer stitch-down over goodyearwelt. It’s just the look tho for me. The double stitching around the welt looks pretty cool for me. I would maybe speculate that other people prefer stitchdown because most boot brands that offer it are the more expensive brands. So maybe the expeirence has always been better then one with a GYW boot because gyw seems to be offered by the more affordable brands?
