Andy -- You need some of these HH boots. If you think they look nice in pictures, just wait until you see them on your feet. I have never had a nicer pair of footwear. Both the construction and the appearance are astounding! And they are breaking in nicely. I can now wear them all day long, every day, and they feel pretty good at the end of the day. There is still quite a way to go before the boots fully conform to my feet, but in a month or two, I may be hesitant to take them off for bed.

Scott -- Thanks, I sure do like them, although all I did was order them and pay the tab. The folks at White's made them classical and beautiful. It's sure nice to still have outstanding craftsmen in the world.

4C -- You will love those boots and will not be walking around wearing run-of-the-mill footwear like most people do. Congratulations on your order and condolences on the long wait ahead. Just forget about the boots until close to the delivery time. Then you can get all worked up with excitement the last couple of weeks.

Well, boys, they're in! And here they are. I'm really happy with how they turned out (btw, I requested no White's logo stamp and they obliged):

I am thinking about ordering a pair of black or grey SD's. The Horoween Chrome Excel look sharp but the Moongrey Bullhide and the Black Shark look really good too. Maybe there are other options not listed on the Whites web-site? Looking to get some opinions - bring 'em on boys.

These boots would be worn more for dress than for work

I don't know much about the exotics - and While I like CXL for casual boots/shoes, it ages almost artificially fast and has a sort of dull sheen to it that I don't like for work unless you're going to be polishing them often.

Call up Kyle at Bakers and pick his brain, he has more experience with the leathers than just about anybody.

I don't know how many more weeks i am out; but it's too many...

Thank you for the photos everybody.
It is very cool to be able to see varying personality in each boot.

I see my old British tan SDs were posted a while ago with people looking for evo pics....sorry to say they ended up being a little small for me so I didn't keep them long. Don't ven remember where they ended up I'm afraid.

I've had lots of SDs before but only pair I still have is my first pair of brown dress cap toes with double leather soles.

Slide, sorry to hear that, tho at this point I've definitely settled on British Tan for my SDs :)

Now the decision is do I go double leather soles, single mid with 269 outsoles, or single mid with 705 half soles. Also, all eyelets, or eyelets and hooks (pretty sure all eyelets)! Oh and forgot about medallion or standard cap toes (basically, I ain't ready to order yet- lol)

Love the two right pairs ..
    Very Viberg'esque ..
Would like those laces in my Vibergs - anyone any ideas where those colour laces they use are available ?

[email protected] -- I like yours better than the ones you were emulating, probably because the Cuban heels look nicer to me than the block heels. Also, your laces look better. You have good taste -- and lots of beautiful boots.

Tiger -- Your boots look good too.

Today I visited Little Joe's here in Oklahoma City to see their rather large stock of White's boots. I would like to have common size feet, but alas! Nothing at Little Joe's was even close enough to bother trying on. At least I got to see many of the leathers and boot styles in one place. I'll go back soon when I have more time. I would have liked to try on some packers, as they will probably be the next boots I order. The pointed toes look more like my cowboy boots; however, I will probably go with the more rounded toes for comfort, even though I would prefer the pointed toes for appearance. I was really impressed with the distressed oiled leather. It would be great for a more casual look and seems tough as nails. But for the Packers I plan to order, I am still thinking of going with the black oiled leather that is hell for stout but can still be worn with slacks, if needed. I noticed that most of the boots at Little Joe's were unlined and had soft toes. I am fine without lining when using the oiled leathers, but the soft toes did not appeal to me because they had so little rigidity and seemed they would collapse easily.
