if a HOuse of Salgado suit jacket is machine pad stitched in the chest and lapel; i don't think you'll see a jacket at rick's pricepoint to be hand made.

Not commenting whether that's a good or bad thing per se; just gotta keep expectations realistic.

As i mentioned earlier in this thread, in the jacket the canvas is hand set, the rest of the jacket is machine done.

"The canvas is set by hand, but the rest is mostly machine done. We can do handwork on request for an up-charge."

I don't want to mislead anyone here.

Fair enough. I think I've got a decent grasp of construction, and I don't expect the world for that price point. But I'm also not too stuck up on country of origin, so I'll take it for what it's worth and evaluate the product when I see it.

@TOstyle sorry to hear you had such a negative very experience though I won't say it's unexpected the service has been slipping there since they've had more high profile clients and I'm a bit fed up personally. The product speaks for itself but there are other options and I'd be interested in hearing your findings if it means more genuine and expedient service.

Gentlemen, I just discovered this thread and feel this should be kept alive. Here are some other MTM tailors in TO.

Made Clothing offers MTM. Their suits are made in Canada. I found that they don't have as many customization options as other MTM shops I have experienced with. The lapel is a bit on the slim side and jackets are a bit short imo. They are definitely offering the trendy, modern look.

High end stuffs. They have Kiton, Pal Zileri, Edward Green trunk show every year. They also have Samuelsohn MTM and usually have sales at the end of the year for some seasonal fabrics. The people there have great knowledge and provide excellent customer services.

Tailors for hundreds of years, before rtw and later mtm, made clothes for everyone. The poor had less work in there clothes while the rich usually had more. In the big cities the better tailors could be picky. In smaller community's they made everything just to stay in business. More work in a garment means more pay. After all, time is money. Decades ago in this town a tailor had a very low price for starter, but if you wanted to pay 5 times more he could make that quality, but you had to ask for it. If he stated high prices then many customers would think they can't afford and he would have gone out of business and nobody would get anything. What's nice about tailors who have varying rates is you don't have to pay top dollar everytime.

I heard back in the summer they were shutting down the Wellington St. shop (it was announced at the Men of the Cloth doc screening) but didn't know this was in the works.
