I haven't and...well the website isn't making me want to run out and try this one. Mainly because I get the sense that, even if Mr. Singh is very good and these are all handmade in his shop, he's an old-school guy and there is bound to be some communication issues so he doesn't get what I actually want in a suit. Like the older tailors on the Danforth - I've tried to go in there and give them a try, but it's always just such a bad vibe that I end up walking out.

Speaking of bad vibes, anyone know what the deal is with these guys: http://shopbeaumonde.com/ - I hate to stereotype, but this looks like d-bag overload.

But they're synonymous with class! But yeah, doesn't look like my style.

Master-Classter did a great review of some local tailors in Toronto. Does anyone here have any personal experience? I'm looking for someone to trust with fixing up a suit jacket, and tweak some trousers.

I'm pretty sure they aren't even real bespoke just by looking at their website. They say that they have a turnaround time of 2 weeks and will meet anywhere to take measurements This screams MTM to me (No basted fitting. Only $500 for a blazer. Willing to meet anywhere to measure...)

Agree completely! The website looks absolutely terrible, I just know a lot of tailors don't put a lot of work into that so I was willing to give it a chance if someone tried them out. The two-week turnaround time in particular seems ridiculous to me for MTM.

Somehow I don't think I'm wrong that their "synonymous with class" motto in fact means this operation is synonymous with terrible.

My MTM suit should be arriving in the next 3 weeks or so and I will be posting pictures

That's a good point. I had not heard of S&M before, and the price point is low so I'm willing to give them a shot. Looks like they don't do custom suiting, which is a bummer, but I'll see what their shirts are like.

Also, I did stop into Garrison this weekend. It was exactly as I feared, with pushy salesguys not giving you the time of day if it seems like you don't have a wad of cash to spend. I'm highly skeptical, but to be fair I should at least give them a try, so I'm going to give it a go with a shirt to start. We'll see how things go, and I'll post here to give my thoughts when it comes in.

We absolutely do custom suits. We just don't advertise it at the moment online. More of a word of mouth program for the time being. Prices start at $595 for a two piece, included true half canvas construction. Turnaround is approx. 5 weeks. We have over 500 fabrics to select from as well.

In addition, we draft every pattern from scratch, so there is virtually no limit to what styling can be offered on the suit. Lapel size, gorge height, etc, can all be modified to your liking.

We do everything direct. We work directly with the factory that produces the suit. We buy cloth directly from the mills. No one stands between us and the manufacturer. All the cost savings are passed on to the customer.

If you stop by, you can see the construction and finishing for yourself. People are always amazed at the quality for the price we offer.

Out of curiosity, I see you said your shirts are hand-made. Are all the suits too? Is this stuff done in Canada or overseas? I can't image doing it in Canada for that price point...

The canvas is set by hand, but the rest is mostly machine done. We can do handwork on request for an up-charge.

We make the shirts in our Joint Venture factory in India. Suits in South China.
