Custom hand knit sweaters - any interest?

I've found someone who would be willing to custom knit sweaters for me. For a simple sweater it will cost about $250 for decent wool and then upwards from there for more exotic stuff (lambswool, merino, cashmere, alpaca, mohair, etc.) She can also blend multiple yarns if desired. These would have to be relatively heavy gauge knits as finer gauge would take a very long time. (The sweater doesn't have to be heavy weight, but the knit has to be relatively wide as opposed to your average machine-knit sweater.)

I'm going to have her make a prototype to my spec for me, a shawl collar sweater like one I have but haven't been able to find a similar one since. I'll post when I get it.

She can also do scarves, caps, socks, gloves etc. and repairs/alterations to sweaters (she'll be fixing a Cloak sweater for Fok that's come unraveled a bit). I don't want to swamp her with work, but she sounded willing to take on a reasonable amount of this. Just wondering if there would be any interest in this. If so I can also get some pictures of pieces she's already done so you can get an idea of the quality.

Sounds interesting. J, is this someone local?

Edit: To add, I'd be down for a shawl collar knit if it's like what I'm thinking of.

Could she do a sweater vest shaped like this?

That's a bit exaggerated. The point is, deep V; low, scooped out armholes; high, tapered waist.

Are you going to wear that to go pick up Betty and Veronica?

It is someone local, and no, it's not my grandma, she's about my age actually. I'm sure she can do pretty much any normal design you could come up with. She actually prefers more complicated stuff because it's "less boring" to work on, so cables, patterns, etc. would make her happier. But yes, I'll see what she thinks about your Archie sweater.

She's a keeper. Perhaps she can do a "Gatto Corse" intarsia.

I like Manton's sweater vest prototype. Looks like the one's you see in the old movies and photos of the 1930s.
