I am getting a custom suit done and will be getting the pants cuffed. I am set on getting the pants cuffed b/c I like that look but am wondering if I should have a single pleat or flat front. I like the slim pant leg look so was wondering....with cuffs should I definitely have pleats??

I've heard one should only cuff if you have pleats but have noticed a lot of the newer RL Polo lines are cuffing with flat front pants? Is this a look that will go out of style soon? Does this work?I don't typically like double pleats either. Any help is always appreciated. thanks.

I just ordered a pair of trousers today: flat front, w/cuffs. I have been avoiding cuffs (and pleats!) for a while so this will be the one item in my wardrobe.

Flat+cuffs = acceptable.

I like cuffs on flat front suit trousers. A few months back I did my new Caruso suit this way. I went with 1 5/8 cuffs.

For me, it depends on the cut of the trouser. That said, about 75% of my flat front trousers have cuffs, and interestingly, about 15% of my pleated trousers do not have cuffs.

+1 cuffs are fine. You may want to have a pair made with, and another without.

Thanks for all the help guys. I am going with 2 inch cuffs and it looks great. I think I may stick to a very shallow short single pleat.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
