Is there a standard/special way to put knots into cufflink holes for wear? I always seem to just force them into the holes on the double cuff and I always have a very difficult time with it. It takes much longer than regular cufflinks.

Any advice is appreciated.

Depends on the make of the shirt. I have different knots for different shirts.

Force them out of the holes & into the trash with the plastic stiffeners and tissue paper. The pins you can save.
