Cuff links for a shirt w/out French cuffs?

Some of my shirts are made with holes for cuff links, while they also have regular buttons (so you can either button a shirt or put cuff links, e.g. for the evening).

Is it ok to wear cuff links with such a shirt, which doesn't have French cuffs? I do understand that French cuffs are a norm, but is it still acceptable? TIA.

I have only seen these type of shirts in Japan. IIRC, if you use cufflinks, the button that you could use to button the cuffs is still visible.

You could remove the button and have single cuffs with your cufflinks. Of course, then you are committed to using cufflinks forever.

There is nothing wrong with single cuffs. I think that is what is supposed to be used with morning suits. So it should be ok for day-to-day wear.

I think the OP is talking about convertible cuffs.

They were popular in the early 60s.

I think Paul Smith does them sometimes RTW, nowadays.

Wear links with them if you want.
