Hello everybody,

Mr. Vigouroux from Crockett & Jones provided all information regarding the boot quickly by email:

Dear Mr Stock,

Stroud is a 7 eyelet Handgrade Derby boot, made in 367 last.

The cost to make this boot is as following:

Single MTO: £1050 (ex-Vat £875)

GMTO with 6 participants: £869 (ex-Vat £724.17)

GMTO with 10 participants £829.50 (ex-Vat £691.25)

Plus shipping fee depending on the recipients country.

The boot in the video is made in Dark Brown Antique Calf.

The next step would be to create a spreadsheet so that participants can add themselves to the list.
-> Does such a spreadsheet not exist already here somewhere in the forum?

Best regards

Pascal

I might be interested. Particularly if it were scotch grain (but don't change your plans on account of me).
Hello Mr. Stevens,

the original boot is made in dark brown antique calf. It is meant to be an elegant dress boot to be combined even with a suit.

The cost information I received I just posted.

Next step is the excel spreadsheet.

Best regards

Hello everybody,

does an excel-file with the GMTO boots/shoes already exist, to add the "Stroud", or shall I create a new excel file?

Best regards

It's a beautiful boot, no doubt... but not for me, I already have the stock Harlech in DB Shell which I don't wear as often as I should (due to not wearing leather soles in damp/wet weather).

Hopefully the link to the Google sheet works, although I was surprised to see that it hadn't been updated/amended in a while.

Thanks Marmite89,

I updated all information and the excel-file.

We started the GMTO of the elegant handgrade 7-eyelet derby boot "Stroud". The GMTO excel file is here:

A short video of the boot:

Hello everybody,

@Humpty_Dumpty_Rises suggested to maybe change the handgrade leather sole against a rubber sole, like the sleek city sole of C&J, to be better suited to rain and light snow, which also makes the boot cheaper probably.

Also Mrs. York from Crockett & Jones replied quickly to the quesion about retailers and stockists of the elegant handgrade boot "Stroud". Only "American Tailors" carried the boot as it was made especially for them:

"Dear Mr Stock,

Thank you for your emails, it nice to hear a few people are interested in this style!

I have just been having a chat with our factory and the style Stroud was made in 2019 and only for our stockist ‘American Tailors’ in Australia, but unfortunately there are none left now, and no other stockist carries this style. But they did say it was possible to have pairs made as a Special Order. I am sorry to say that as this is run through a different department, I wouldn’t be able to give you a definite price as I only know the starting prices. I would contact our Retail Services Team directly on the email address [email protected] and they would be happy to help with pricing, timescale and all the details.

I am sorry I couldn’t help more, but please do let me know if you have any further questions."

Enjoy your weekend and best regards

Hi Pascal. I said you could consider making changes to try improve your chances of finding more participants. I didn't suggest that you change it. Its your project at the end of the day :) I'm not even a participant as this GMTO isn't to my interest.
