1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Does C&J do any shell color similar to a Horween Ravello?

I would keep those beauties. Nothing against Alden (I have 2 pairs in my collection), but C&J is a step above, IMO.

Those are very nice. Would you mind sharing your impressions of the leather?

    Please read this:
    https://www.crockettandjones.com/the-article/aw16-russian-grain/

As per C&J this leather is very tough for bad weather/snow/rain etc and tougher than country grain.
So I am thinking to do a GMTO of Northcote Boots on 348 last with this leather. Waiting for pricing info from C&J.
I am thinking to use this as a everyday winter boots on a sleek last.

Is Russian calf better than Zug Grain?

Darn, didn't think I'd want another boot but Russian Calf is awesome.

Don't have the Zug Snowdon yet so don't know how to make the comparison. I'm very curious if they are making the Russian Calf in the same way as it used to be made (though hard to believe). Someone compare please!

Pretty yes very very very durable & can take lot of abuse I don't think it's same as zugg though. But it can handle a lots just my two cent.

The original Russian leather was also made from reindeer whereas the modern version is calf (I think?). I am not sure if reindeer leather has any special properties compared to calf, just something to note.
