Committed to the Skye 2! This is exciting! first C&J MTO for me
Perfect, thanks! Looking forward to them!
Awesome! I wonder how many we're up to now.
I need to circle back with Lauren again. We are super close and I am pretty sure we have more than enough committed people, just need to get sizing done and then payment and we are golden.
I'm trying to get some sizing advice on the 335 last. I've emailed Lauren but was curious what others are doing. I know mdubs is going with 1 down from Barrie. What are other folks doing?
For reference, I'm:
8.5D Alden Barrie, Trubalance
8 UK Carmina Rain, Detroit
8E UK Edward Green 202, 606
9D C&J for Ralph Lauren Marlow - too big but wasn't able to try on the 8.5D
7.5UK or 8UK for 335? Thoughts?
Based upon all this information and my US to UK conversion, I suggest you go 8E UK (which should be equiv to 8.5D US, your Barrie or Marlow size).
I wear an 8d barrie and 8E in CJ 348.
Dubs whats the difference between the skye and islay. I am seriously thinking of getting into CJ.
Conniston boot looks great too.
I wish those shell skyes were burgundy instead of whiskey...
thank you sir. just heard back from Lauren and that was her recommendation as well
i suppose you could go with the stock version or potentially put together a GMTO for burgundy... it should theoretically be easier to get done than whiskey
Easier to get material, but probably harder to get support.
I am not sure what the Islay is. On an airplane and don't want to look it up right now. ;-)
I think C&J boot collection lacks variety, especially colour-wise. I love my first (and only so far) pair of C&J boots (Islays, although I had an issue with one of the speed hooks) and I really want to get a pair of shell cordovan boots next. But the only two offerings, Harlech and Skye, are both dark brown like my Islays, so they're too similar (especially the Skyes, because of the brogue and such).
Actually the whole shell collection is dark brown, not just boots.
So I think I'll get some Carminas (they're restocking shell shoes soon, and they have burgundy, whiskey, even green), although #8 shell Skyes would look great I think. But not willing to go through the whole MTO process I'm afraid.
C&J for Brooks Brothers look great in Burgundy:
But Carminas look somehow sleeker (these are the ones I'm probably getting).
Two thing to consider here:
SKYE2 comes in 3 finishes which are chestnut calf, cordovan and suede.
Islay comes in scotch grain so depending on your preference these factors will play in. The Skye 2 in Cordovan is on 335 which is slightly longer and more pointed than the 365 last Islay is made on. Either way both are great boots and you cant go wrong with either.
I think I actually prefer the C&J in this instance....
