Im looking at getting 2-3 pairs of C&J's and I was curious to know how the lasts are shaped. At the moment im thinking of picking up both the Connaught (236) and the Arden (341) but then theres the Radstock (341) and Bedford (317) which are both similar design to the Connaught. So I was curious to know how the C&J lasts run? is 236 more elongated and elegant than the 341? Hopefully someone can help me out, and sorry for the ramble

If your feet are large & you are self-conscious of that and wish to avoid the perception of large feet made larger by an elongated last, get a pattern that breaks up the vamp of the shoe - like a wingtip or a design with a medallion, as opposed to a plain toe (e.g. chukka or PTB).

Lucky you... If you do a special order, it will be full C&J price, not the Pediwear price. From memory it is 550 pounds or some other similarly ridiculous figure. No harm enquiring though... If you are hell bent on a leather sole. Try shoehealer - they could probably replace the sole for you on a stock Radstock before shipping to you, but it would be unusual to say the least: most of their resole on ordering requests are for the opposite (leather > dainite) as opposed to dainite > leather. Any particular reason for wanting the change? Dainite soles are awesome, don't drink the leather soles are always bestzzzzzzz koolaid. When it comes down to it they wear a lot faster, and are slippery when wet.

So if I order from Pediwear and request the Radstock with leather soles I will just end up paying the full C&J price? Or do I have to order directly from C&J?

I could try Shoehealer, but wouldnt they need the 341 last to do any major shoe repairs like that?

I have nothing against Dainite, i guess im alittle more conservative

You can make a special order through shoehealer or direct to C&J and it will cost the exact same each time - a ridiculous sum. At least that was my experience when I asked if I could have a particular shoe with a different leather once.

I see your point regarding needing the last, but given the shoe is brand new, not stretched out of shape, and not softened by wear, I don't really see a major problem TBH. They remove the outsole, but the welt to which the outsole (and insole) are attached is left in place and should help keep the shape. Many members here get their shoes resoled at local cobblers with no (apparent) problem at all.

I admit this is an amateur understanding though and may not encompass the true complexity of the process. You'd best contact DFWII or bengalstripe for the final word on that.
