PTB, just because it's not clear to me how much longer it'll be available.

My Lindrick box was labeled 10.5US/10UK.

A hypothetical here. I originally wanted the Marlow Wingtips, but were sold out in my size. But ordered the Lindrick. Also stopped in a store, and they had the Plain Toe Marlows, which I picked up. I figured the PTB + Lindricks would be a good combination.

Now the Wingtip Marlows are restocked. I think it's better to stick with what I have, but they are so tempting. Opinions on Wingtip vs. PTB, and/or Lindrick?

My suggestion: go with your original instinct; you can always pick up the wingtips at some later date if you feel the need.

keep the lindrick. it is the uber marlow. you won't have the heel slippage that can occur with the marlow/darlton.

for me the question is the lindrick vs alden ravello wingtip boot. what would you guys choose if you had to have only one?

Thanks for the advice/confirmation. Yeah, I was thinking I could pick up the Wingtips later. The PTB's just looked fantastic with jeans. And I think they stopped making those, right?

And thanks to Namor for his advice to me and for starting this thread!

I prefer the Lindrick over the Alden. The Alden has an Indy boot look to me; it's not bad, but different.

I'm not certain, but believe so.

They're not available on the website. And when I stopped by the Chicago store a few weeks ago looking for these, I said to the SA that I thought they were discontinued but that I knew some stores had stock. He gave me a surprised look and said "I have them," but didn't explicitly say my understanding was wrong. I certainly wouldn't gamble on them being available much longer.

And yeah, they look great with jeans, and are generally quite versatile.

Lindrick, construction and finish of CJ is much better than that of Alden.

Thanks for the info. I wear UK 6 in C&J so I guess the Lindrick in a US 7 would have been .5 too big for me anyway...great for not missing out on the sale; however, sad that I probably will not be able to wear any RL/C&J shoes :(

Just a minor detail, but I don't really like the heel pull-tab thing on the Lindrick (don't know what the technical term for that is). Just in my experience, I find that when I stand up, my pants always get caught on them and I have to adjust the hem to get around them when I straighten my legs back out.

    I would do this

Choosing one would be a tough question for me.
I much prefer the ravello color but also prefer the style/construction of the Lindrick and it's also cheaper with the current deal.
I'd probably go with the ravello.

Maybe I am ignorant - how do I get the current deal, if something in my size becomes available?

    Get longer pants.

    Cut the tab.

Send them to me, I'll worry about it for you.

Duh, I don't know why I didn't think to just cut it off. After buying the Marlow wingtips, I can't afford these right now anyway, so I'll probably have to wait until the next sale. Hopefully this recent sale is indicative of future ones and they will continue to give the discount for cordovan shoes.
