Thats not the Marlow...
That's right Spoo .... these have double leather soles... the others.. single leather. Different shoe altogether.
Don't forget what appears to be a split toe, the lack of a full strap and an entirely different shape.
Interesting. Couldn't see it too well on my iPhone.
By the way, I've worn the topy'd Lindricks several times now and they're perfect!
Just picked up a pair of RL 'Made in England' Prescott shoes at 50% off ($899 - $449) at a private sale. Size is 11. I was going to return them. They are not my size, I just could not pass up on the bargain. If anyone is interested in purchasing them, let me know, I will sell it at cost (i.e. price paid + shipping + paypal fees).
Wow $850 for calf...
BTW, I have RL Cordovan Cigar Colored Marlow Shortwing with recessed metal toe guards in Minty condition 9.5D; that I could be talked out of. Maybe 15 miles total on em.... No blemishes to speak of, and yes the toes are perfect looking with no wear showing. I am going down to 9D on this model, hence the sale. Always used trees. Minimal creasing as well. PM if interested.
Is that good or bad?
Even though the description says calf, I do believe they are shell.
I remember seeing an SA at a store wear a pair and they had the distinctive rolls.
I have a pair in my closet, how do I determine whether it is a Calf or Shell? And can someone please explain the importance?
Shell cordovan is an equine (horse) leather that is made from the shell (fibrous muscle) on the rump of the horse. Shell cordovan creases differently from calf - it forms waves, or rolls, as opposed to calfskin's smaller creasing. It is less porous than calf and is much more durable.
Was looking through the BG catalog and noticed:
Looks like a new model needs to be added Roman
The dark brown one looks like the EG Sandringham with different lacing. The caramel one looks more Silvano Sassetti than EG/C&J.
I know it's similar but it's RL for sure though, here's a link:
If it was EG I woulda bought instantly
