Awesome shine on those Marlows dude. I currently have shoe envy, although seeing as I just purchased my 1st pair today the envy will soon subside :nodding:

I think I posted this here or the C&J thread with all the Marlow talk, but here is my comparison: Alden 6.5D vs. Marlow in 7D [IMG] [IMG]

I picked these up today at my local Ralph Lauren store... They are out in the sun at around 3pm. They have a beautiful color under full light.

They are beautiful shoes, but I was disappointed in their staff. None of them knew who made the shoes "Made in England" and finally one of them came up with Edward Green. Even after I told them that they were Crocket and Jones.

^ mdubs, congratulations on the Marlow wingtips. I got a pair over a week ago and I hope you'll love yours as much as I do mine. Wear in good health!

Just out of curiosity, if you knew who made them, why test the staff? Were you disappointed in their service?

One SA at the Ralph Lauren store straight up told me Ralph Lauren made the shoes and that it was not Crockett and jones kinda funny

And out of the California SAs the only one that has actually known shoes is the guy in purple label at Beverly Hills

I've found RL SAs to be very helpful in terms of finding products throughout their network, giving advice on products, e-mailing and calling, alerting me to sales, etc. A lot of them don't necessarily knows who manufactures every shoe, but in this instance C&J is a supplier to RL, you really can't expect every SA to know every RL supplier.

    It's true.

Ralph is secretly working at the C&J factory in Northampton. I hear he's a pretty decent clicker.

    You heard it here first.

I agree completely. I think many of us may very well know a whole lot more some of the RL SA's. We are enthusiasts after all. I understand wanting to know who made the shoe but I don't understand asking a question if one already knows the answer...just to point out that they are right or wrong.

BTW Alcibiades, those Color 8 LWB's w/Double Waterlock soles are probably the finest example I've seen. I absolutely LOVE the waterlock sole but the double waterlock on a LWB is damn near perfect. [IMG]

I'm thinking about getting the Marlow penny while they're on sale. I've already got the Alden cigar LHS. Would having both be redundant? I wear an 11D in the RL wingtip. What size would I need in the RL penny-loafer? Anyone who has experience with both the RL penny and the Alden LHS please don't hesitate to chime in. Thanks.

Tried looking back at the posts, but wasn't clear: what is the current discount on shells at RL? 25% or is it already their 30+15% sale? I usually get a mailer for these but didn't receive one this round.

Does anyone know if the the RL Peters Model still being offered? I don't see them on their website. But perhaps in a brick & mortar store?

Sorry for highjacking the thread. Is this Peal & Co made by C&J too? Is the Boston, the Marlow and this the same shoe?

Give - In - Style is this week at 25% off. The Pre-Sale (formerly Private Sale) will be end of this month. The Pre-Sale is the sale with the discount plus kicker (which has ranged in the past between 30 and 40 percent plus 15 percent kicker). As for deciding when to buy, its a crap shoot. If your size sells out during this sale, you are out of luck for the pre sale unless you call a store.

I spoke with an SA at an RL store yesterday and he said they were told the Cordovan shoes would not be included in the upcoming private sale. By the way I had told him that I had purchased the Marlow the other day so the information was not provided based upon the pretext that he had hoped I was going to buy a pair.

Its funny, it seems to happen twice a year. Some people say they won't be included. Some people say they will be included. We go to the site on day of pre-sale and find some people were misinformed. I'm glad I jumped on them last spring. I opened the site the morning the sale started, they were included so I took advantage.
