Mine have certainly not lightened in the year and a half I have had them. On my feet today by coincidence:

Interesting. Maybe I'll use some Saphir Renovateur which tends to take some of the dye off. Then, not polish them for a few years too...

The display models get really light under the bright light so that's probably why some have lightened

FWIW, I use Renovateur frequently, as the C&J shells seem to dry out quickly... I never use polish.

Is it just me or does the one on the left look a bit wider too?

chipshot, I don't see an obvious last number inside my MacCallums. FWIW, the numbers are, on one side "1183374/49895" and on the other side, "ALM 46140 11 1/2D". Comparing these numbers with those in my Marlow shortwings, which I know are on the 325 last, I can find no last number here.

Although I didn't remember this, my Marlow shortwings are US size 12D and my MacCallums are US size 11 1/2 D, so I sized down 1/2 size for the MacCallums and they fit similarly to the Marlow shortwings, with ample room in the toebox (US size 12D is my normal shoe size in most makes and lasts). I bought the MacCallums in-store, so I was able to try them on and bought the best-fitting boots. Of course, YMMV, but I would recommend sizing down 1/2 size from your size in the Marlow shortwings, so 9D MacCallums.

you'll see #8 Alden shell on display that looks like cigar shell. fluorescent lights really change the color

the Darltons on display in Boston also look super light
