Does anybody have these? I am looking for some more views other than from the top.

How would they compare to these Alden's?

I saw these at C&J's Burlington Mall location in London. A stunning shoe in my opinion.

They were £335, and with the exchange rate at the time of nearly 2 to 1, too pricey for my budget but nevertheless worth it. I don't have the Alden version, but do have AE Byrons. I'd supplant my Byrons in a heartbeat.

Not quite the same thing, but close... this is the Ralph Lauren Benton which is the Crockett & Jones Belgrave.

The Belgrave is sleek and sexy. The Alden is classic and dependable. Pick your poison.

The net affect is an artisan shoe vs. something mass produced and identical to the point of demonstratively having limited human interaction with the process. The latter characteristic of Allen Edmonds or Alden.

I have a pair of Belgraves in Polo Suede. The 337 last is beautiful and restrained. The cap is nice, it seems to be set at a very slight angle too which makes it more interesting.

Also, I much prefer the suede version to the calf version.

+1
- I had the Belgrave in both Chestnut calf & Polo Suede.. Recently parted with the calf with a fellow member (who looks JUST FINE with them on) as I needed to make room.
- though to 2nd yfyf, I found teh suede to be a lot more forgiving (naturally) than the calf which is strange as I have a other C&J HG in the same last/calf & they fit me well?

I too have the RL version of the C&J and the AE Byron (not the Alden). The C&J is on a slightly narrower and more elegant last. The biggest difference is the noticeably shorter toe cap on the American shoes which tends to make them look short and stubby where the C&J looks long and sleek.

Other than style, is the construction any different?

Would these be appropriate as a interview shoe in black?

Is there anywhere in MD/DC where I could see them in person?
